Lhakpa Sherpa and Nimi Sherpani

This husband-wife team is legendary in the mountaineering world, having summitted Mt. Everest in 1994, and also Mt. Blanc in 1988. Each is heavily involved in social work, the Nepali tourist agency, and job training. Nimi is also the president of the Nepal Sherpa Women's Association. In 2009, the couple partnered with Village Environment Community Gangkharka,  Nepali NGO in order to help create jobs and improve the livelihoods of Himalayan communities in the Sindhupalchok District of Nepal.

Dorjee Netup Sherpa,    Executive Director, VEC

Dorjee Sherpa has been guiding treks in Nepal and India for over ten years. He created this trekking program as a way to provide employment opportunities for people in his home region in a way that is respectful to both culture and environment.


Pema Sherpa, Chief Guide, Vice President, VEC

Pema Sherpa is an experienced trekking guide who has led ventures throughout Nepal and India. He has worked in combat zones in Kashmir, transporting supplies for the Indian army, and now devotes his time to helping his friend Dorjee Sherpa perform development work in their home region of Helambu. He is vice president for Village Environment Community Gangkharka, an organizer for its non-profit trekking, and an excellent cook to have along on a trek!


Payment

Payment for these treks is made upon arrival in Kathmandu. We accept major credit cards, as well as cash.
