7 Days of Trekking in Helambu Province


            This 7 day trek through the beautiful Helambu region is well known for its abundant wildlife and flora. As you walk along you’ll pass through many Sherpa villages and see a number of the lives your contribution is directly helping to improve. At just 7 days this is also an ideal trek for those short on time or just getting started in trekking and still wanting a trekking experience that is representative of longer, more difficult treks. Prices start at $490 per person for groups of 6 people fewer, and $455 for groups of 7 or more.

Day 1-Kathmandu to Pati Bhanjyang
       On this day your guide will greet you at your hotel in Kathmandu where you will then proceed by bus to the village Sundarijal where we will begin with a steep walk uphill till we reach the Burlang Bhanjyang pass at 2500 meters. Following our lunch stop we will precede down the mountain side to Pati Bhanjyang where we will stay overnight.

Day 2- Pati Bhanjyang to Kutumsang
       After breakfast day two will consist of a simple accent up to the small village of Kutumsang at an altitude of 2471 meters.

Day 3-Kutumsang to Tharepati
       We will continue uphill through a beautiful forest of rhododendrons then reaching camp at an altitude of 3600 meters. From this height village of Tharepati offers fantastic views of the Helambu valley region.              .

Day 4-Tharepati to Melamchi 
       In order to reach our next night’s destination at Melamchi we’ll follow a slightly descending path through the forest. Upon reaching Melamchi you’ll be invited in and comforted by the Sherpa families living within the village.

Day 5-Melamchi to Tarkegyang
       Following breakfast we’ll continue downhill for another two hours until reaching a large hanging bridge pausing to have lunch by the river. Once lunch is done we’ll climb 3 hours up to Tarkegyang. At 2600 meters it is the largest market town in the Helambu region and tight nit houses with pretty interiors and a large Buddhist monastery.

Day 6- Tarkegyang to Shermathang
       Today’s journey will feel like a nice stroll in the park as we follow the relatively level trail through a set of orchards till the village of Shermathang and a historically important monastery.

Day 7- Shermathang to Kathmandu
       Our last day is a combination of the decent down to Bahunepati through a series of Tamang and Brahman villages before catching the bus for a short ride back to Kathmandu.
