15 Days of Trekking in Langtang National Park and the Province of Helambu
This 15-day trek combines breath-taking views of the Himalayas with an experience to learn more about the people and projects you have chosen to support by trekking with us. A stop in Gangkharka allows guests to recuperate and see firsthand the newly-built Gangkharka boarding school and its nearly 100 students and faculty. Day 1- From Kathmandu to Dhunche
On this day your guide will greet you at your hotel in Kathmandu where you will then proceed by bus to the village Dhunche where we will stay overnight at a tea house 2000 meters above sea level in the district of Lieu De.

Day 2- From Dhunche to Syabru
We’ll start our first day of trekking by descending the road to Barku before departing the road and climbing slightly up by foot path to the Tamang village of Syabru to stay for the night. Each house in this village has its own meticulously sculpted wooden façade.

Day 3- From Syabru to Lama Hotel
Our second day trekking will see us depart from Syabru down to the Langtang river valley and through a forest of rhododendrons. After lunch we will follow the river up for about 3 hours to our next destination at the Lama Hotel.

Day 4- From Lama Hotel to Langtang
Day 4 begins with a 2 hour walk through dense forest until the ancient Tibetan resistance camp of Ghora Tabela at 3000 meters. They valley then widens as we continue our slow accent to Langtang at 3350 meters, the last permanent settlement in the valley and also the head quarters of the Langtang National Park. After settling for the evening there Buddhist monastery to explore as well as the cultural heritage derived from Tibetans who arrived in the area 3 centuries ago.

Day 5- From Langtang to Kyangjin
Day 5 is a simple 3 hour trek to the summer settlement of Kyangjin at 3700 meters where can visit a small gompa (monastery), an inn and a dairy all the while absorbing the beautiful view off the mountains.

Day 6- Excursion up Mountain
Today we will take a small hike up a nearby peak in order to take in the maximum view afforded to us of the Langtang Lirun. Afterwards we’ll return to camp for one more night in Kyangjin.

Day 7- From Kyangjin to Lama Hotel
Day 7 marks our turn around from Langtang when we begin to work our way down out of Langtang and into Helambu until reaching the Lama Hotel.

Day 8- From Lama Hotel to Syabru
Proceed downhill into the Langtang river valley before ascending back to the camp at Syabru.

Day 9- From Syabru to Sing Gompa
Today begins with a steep uphill climb to the village of Syanpru Danda where we will rest before completing another 2 hour climb to the Sherpa village of Sing Gompa at 3250 meters.

Day 10- From Sing Gompa to the Lakes of Gosainkund
The path now follows a crest line offering up an expansive view of the Himalayas, from Annapurna and stretching throughout Langtang Park. The Gosainkund lakes are home to an important Hindu pilgrimage takes place during the full moons of July and August in honor of Shiva.

Day 11- From the Lakes of Gosainkund to Gopte
We set off uphill for an hour trek to the lake named Suraj where we can behold a beautiful view of Gosainkund Peak, the Lamjung Himal, the Manaslu and the Ganesh Himal. Descend briefly before ascending to Gopte.

Day 12- From Gopte to Melamchi
We start off with a short climb for approximately an hour up to Tharepati at 3500 meters and will proceed on until we reach the village of Bhote to have lunch. After lunch we will have a harsh decent through a forest of rhododendrons till the Sherpa village of Melamchi at 2600 meters where we will camp for the night.

Day 13- From Melamchi to Tarkegyang
Following breakfast we’ll continue downhill for another two hours until reaching a large hanging bridge pausing to have lunch by the river. Once lunch is done we’ll climb 3 hours up to Tarkegyang. At 2600 meters it is the largest market town in the Helambu region and tight nit houses with pretty interiors and a large Buddhist monastery.

Day 14- Tarkegyang to Shermathang
After nearly 2 weeks today’s journey will feel like a nice stroll in the park as we follow the relatively level trail through a set of orchards till the village of Shermathang and a historically important monastery.

Day 15- Shermathang to Kathmandu
Our last day is a combination of the decent down to Bahunepati through a series of Tamang and Brahman villages before catching the bus for a short ride back to Kathmandu.
